Let's dive into web accessibility

Ria Choi • October 5th, 2026

I'll keep updating this post as I learn more about accessibility through my work.

Logo

1. Logo Image followed by Logo Text

If the brand name already appears as text, the screen reader will read it twice. Treat the logo as decoration instead.

Project Floww
Project Floww
<img src="/logo.svg" alt="" />
<span>Floww</span>

{/* For SVG */}
<svg aria-hidden="true">...</svg>

2. Logo as an <img>: Use alt

For <img> elements, alt is the standard. You don’t need aria-label here.

<img src="/logo.svg" alt="Floww" />

3. Logo that links home: Describe the destination

When the logo is a link, users care about where it goes.

“Logo” tells them nothing. “Floww home” tells them exactly what happens when they click.

<a href="/">
  <img src="/logo.svg" alt="Floww home" />
</a>
